Why use MachineryAssociates.com to sell your machinery?
MachineryAssociates.com’s system is designed to bring all kinds of machinery to one area and present it for sale. This machinery is represented by qualified, active (new and used) machinery dealers (worldwide). This brings experienced, knowledgeable and active professionals to your shop to help you present your machinery for sale in the most professional manner possible. Their efforts leave you to do what it takes to run your business day to day.
There are several things to consider when selling your machinery. Your priority may be to sell for the most money that you can net, or to sell as quickly as possible. There will be different approaches for different needs.
A typical machinery owner can Search for a Dealer or can choose to use the Sell My Machinery option that will notify dealers of your intent to sell machinery. Any of these dealers can/will represent your machinery similarly to a real estate agent representing your home. MachineryAssociates.com members also work in a similar co-brokering situation that is used daily in real estate sales providing the possibility of a sale country-wide (or) worldwide .
Some member dealers are able to buy your equipment outright. Ask your dealer for an offer to buy if you need to move it fast.
Some dealers are specialists. These representative dealers will often specialize in a particular machinery type or brand. When you choose your listing dealer, keeping this in mind will prove useful.
The Listing Dealer and Responsibility
MachineryAssociates.com Members and Ethics - In any brokerage situation, the listing dealer has a single priority; To represent the priorities of the owner of the machine and to do so in an ethical manner. Your contract will list these priorities. All co-brokering by members will be done so in such a manner that your priorities will be represented first and foremost.
Determining a fair asking price - To ensure a timely sale, it is essential to ask a fair price. If a price is too high, it will sit on the market without any real activity and people become accustomed to looking past it, At this point it becomes very difficult to change the opinion of a person shopping for a machine. Even with a reduced price people will look past the machine they’ve seen online (unsold) for a long time.
Any MachineryAssociates.com member can help establish fair-market value for your machinery with appraisals that are available through our sold and active database entries. The dealer will then be able to give you a proper listing number that represents what the machinery has proven to be worth on the open market. You can choose to list for more or less (that decision is up to the two of you.)Advertising Strategy - The MachineryAssociates.com member dealer will outline a plan of how your machinery is to be advertised. As you can imagine, it takes a much more detailed plan to list and sell a CNC router rather than a table saw. Your chosen representative will be able to design a strategy to advertise your machinery online and in print media. Some would even move it to their facility to do demo’s. The goal is to bring as many buyers to view your machinery as quickly as possible.
Preparing the Machinery - The MachineryAssociates.com listing dealer will prepare the machinery for the best possible viewing. This will include suggesting repairs, updates or even a good cleaning. A listing dealer will be responsible to ensure the best possible representation of your machine.
Prepare the listing for the broker-to-broker Multiple Listing Service - When you list your machinery with a MachineryAssociates.com dealer, it will automatically be listed into our database and be shown on our website at (MachineryAssociates.com). This listing will show up in all members email the next day.
Online Machinery Brokers - MachineryAssociates.com has no affiliation with online brokerage houses. Our plan is to make things more efficient by cutting the middleman and dealing direct. Our members are active machinery dealers throughout the US and Canada and will be able to be your local as well as worldwide representative. This is a much more face to face and intimate relationship. Online brokers rarely are local to you and therefore the likelyhood to show up to your shop to see your machinery, be there for inspection or get the most qualified buyers for your machinery is less. It should be noted that this policy does not preclude us from co-brokering with the online brokerage houses. Their effort may just bring a buyer for the machinery. The biggest difference is the way it will be represented.
MachineryAssociates.com Member Policies – All MachineryAssociates.com members are bound by our membership policies. For example, members agree to only advertise machinery for which they have an agreement for. While listing agreements vary, they should contain the same elements you would expect to find in any business agreement. Our members agree not to accept an “advertising fee” to promote their listings in the MachineryAssociates.com database. All advertised machinery must be accurately represented and identified. Any extras included in the listing become part of the sale (unless negotiated out of the deal in writing). Any deficiencies in the equipment must be disclosed without exception.
Professional Representation - Professional Machinery Dealers will understand the principals of the sales profession - such as UCC Liens, security agreements, bills of sale and other documents needed to transfer ownership of used machinery. They will understand all the logistics, rigging and lending practices for the type of machinery that you are looking to purchase. They will understand agency contracts, listing agreements, closing statements (invoices), deposit requirements and escrowed accounts to safeguard funds (if necessary).
Demo/Appraisal - The buyer can request a demo and/or the services of a qualified machinery appraiser. Buyers pay for the appraisals and for transporting the machinery. Depending on the way it gets listed, there may be a rigging charge to load this machinery on a truck. Your Listing Dealer will usually attend the demo and help set up an appraisal if necessary.
Negotiating The Deal - An experienced dealer can use his position as a middleman to keep the negotiations between buyer and seller moving even when the deal looks like it may fall apart. They have been through many sales and know how to keep things moving forward.
