This is a custom built pinch roller with a 102″ width capacity and a 3″ daylight opening. The top roll is 7″ and the bottom roll is 9″. The top roll provides pneumatic pressure to the bottom roll. The rolls are in very good+ condition. It also has variable speed. There is a special feature that sets this machine apart. It has a built in AC to DC generator. Basically the machine runs on 480V/3 Phase AC. It then turns the AC to DC which in return powers the DC motor. The DC motor in return powers a massive 24″ transfer gear that uses a 1″ chain to drive the pinch roller. WHY? Direct current (DC) is a bit easier to understand than alternating current (AC). Rather than oscillating back and forth, DC provides a constant voltage or current. This in return with the massive transfer gear provides for very high torque and smooth speed control. Basically you get a very consistent rotation which equates to a more consistent product. Another plus to DC is that it starts at the set speed and doesn’t ramp up to speed so if you are feeding a material from a roll you will keep consistent pressure on what is being fed and what is on the roll. |
