DIEHL has been around for a long time and builds the best straight lines in the industry. This 55 is a testament as to how long a straight line can run smoothly for. It has a 20″ capacity to the right of the 16″ blade. The main motor is 15 hp and the feed motor is 2 hp and features 4 speeds. The machine is 230V/3 Phase. The arbor has less than 1/1000″ run out. Built in oiler functions as it should. It has a good chain face. The first thing we see with many straight lines is a poor chain face. However chain face alone does not determine cut quality. The chain also needs to sit flat. While the face looks good the chain tows in towards the blade. The left hand side tows in 1 degree and the right side tows in just under 3 degrees. So we have a smooth running machine with a good chain face and that chain has a slight tow in. Thus this is a clearance item and it is priced accordingly. You will be hard pressed to find a Diehl with a good chain, race, and track for under $10,000 in today’s market.
